It may seem odd that there are no other additives, but there are many ways to make a Cacao beverage. This way in particular encourages a pure, simple connection with Cacao that leaves you feeling clear and light.
Enjoy it on it’s own first, and then experiment with adding spices and sweeteners later.
To prepare a cup of ceremonial Cacao, shave off 1 – 1.5 tablespoons of a bar of Cacao.
Bring to a boil 1 cup of water. After the water has boiled, turn off the stove or remove the pot from heat.
Find something in your life to be grateful for as you add your chopped pieces of Cacao to the hot water. It is believed that with a Spirit of gratitude the Cacao begins to awaken.
Stir until completely blended into the hot water. You can use a spoon or for a more frothy and smooth drink, a hand or standing blender can be used. If using a standing blender, add Cacao and 1 cup of hot water to the blender. Be sure to only fill your blender half way and hold down the lid with one hand to prevent it from flying off from the heat as you turn on the blender. Start at the lowest setting first and then gradually increase the speed to medium. Blend for 30-40 seconds, keeping one hand pressing down on the blender top at all times.
After your Cacao and water are mixed together, your cup of ceremonial Cacao is ready to enjoy!
Drink with a curious mind and an open Heart.
